Anti-Inflammatory Medication Warning

In breaking news, the Therapeutic Goods Administration of Australia (TGA) have reviewed the safety of anti-inflammatory medications includingĀ common over theĀ counter drugs used to manage arthritis symptoms. Nurofen, Advil andĀ Voltaren are examples. Ā As a result of the review there will be warnings printed on packagingĀ regarding an increased risk of heart attack, stroke and liver damage. Ā This will be effective as of June next year. Ā Further, the TGAĀ advised that these medications should only be used for a few days at a time. Ā If you are taking over the counter or prescription anti-inflammatoryĀ medications regularly you should have a chat with your GP about alternative ways to manage your pain.
